Our story

A Mother's Village nonprofit was born from a heartfelt journey of compassion and care. After years of working intimately with women and mothers as a doula, Misty couldn't ignore the growing need for a nurturing village culture and the vital support systems mothers deserved. The visible toll that isolation was taking on families stirred a deep well of passion within her, igniting the vision for A Mother's Village. With unwavering dedication, Misty envisioned a warm and accessible community, a sanctuary where ancient village culture could thrive. It would be a place of comfort and connection, embracing sacred circles for mothers and women, offering a haven for children to bond and flourish, and above all, serving as a source of profound nourishment for the soul.

To bring this heartfelt vision to life, our wonderful team of facilitators at A Mother's Village joined hands in harmony. Each member of our passionate team has brought their unique strengths and wisdom, creating a beautiful mosaic of support for our community. With expertise as doulas, herbalists, and ayurvedic practitioners, our team offers a beautiful array of holistic guidance, breathing life into the dream of A Mother's Village.

Conscious Communication Pillars

  • In our circle, we practice deep and empathetic listening. When someone is sharing, make a conscious effort to listen with your heart, not just your ears. This means being fully present, cultivating compassion, and truly hearing what the speaker is saying. Avoid forming responses in your mind while someone else is sharing; instead, let their words sink in and resonate with your own experiences.

  • In our sacred circle, we bow to the wisdom of silence. When another sister is speaking, let the unspoken spaces between words reveal the depth of our souls. Refrain from breaking this sacred thread with interruptions.

  • We welcome you as you are. Here, you're encouraged to speak from your soul, openly and genuinely. There is no right thing to say, each share holds a unique place in our collective journey of healing and connection within our village of authenticity. Your presence enriches this sacred space.

  • This circle is a village, not a one-on-one counseling session. We honor the collective by being mindful of our shares, allowing for each of us to be witnessed and supported by our fellow women. Share in a way that is not meant to expel or relive trauma experiences but to offer your heart's narrative as a gift to be held gently by the circle. In this exchange of stories, we find strength and unity, weaving a tapestry of healing and wisdom together.
